Founding architect Georgina Papathanasiou came to London from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), after completing her Diploma and professional qualification in Greece.

She then studied  under the supervision of Prof. Peter Cook and completed an MsArch at the Bartlett School of Architecture.

She joined Eva Jiricna Architects in 1996 and worked closely with Eva for over 20 years as an associate.

During that time she gained wide ranging experience with a particular focus on the cultural, listed, high end residential and retail sectors.

Georgina was involved in many prestigious projects, working with some of the leading global museum institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Royal Academy, Somerset House and New York Historical Society Museum.  During that period she developed a close relationship with high profile private and retail clients such as Boodles and Harrods.

In 2017 she founded Atelier A&D Ltd. 

In her new role Georgina has undertaken a number of complex and interesting projects such as the Jewellery Gallery refurbishment at the V+A; retail units for Boodles and high-end residential refurbishments in Knightsbridge, Canary Wharf and Malaga.

Georgina oversees all design work in the practice and has a refined eye for aesthetics, style and proportion combined with assurance for design production and delivery of projects that derives from years of experience in creating innovative and engaging projects.

Eva Jiricna is a Czech born architect based in London since 1968. After the Russian Invasion she remained in England - she worked on Brighton Marina project and on Lloyd’s Building and started her own practice in 1982.

Eva became well known for the interiors of shops and residential projects and mainly glass staircases but also for her work in Victoria and Albert Museum, Canada Water Bus Station, Leicester Library, Orangery at Prague’s Castle and many others. In 1999 she opened with a Czech partner another practice, AI DESIGN, in Prague, and completed many projects including hotels, University buildings amongst others. 

In 2017 she collaborated with Georgina Papathanasiou to co-found Atelier A&D Ltd and continues to work on prestigious projects such as the Refurbishment of the Jewellery Gallery at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Eva’s signature design element, the glass staircase, is often incorporated into projects, always intricately designed and engineered.

Over the years, Eva Jiricna’s contribution to architecture and design has been recognised with many prestigious awards, including the title Royal Designer for Industry (RDI), a CBE (Commander of the British Empire); she has been elected a Royal Academician by the Royal Academy of Arts, made Hon Fellow A.I.A. (American Institute of Architects), and been bestowed a unique Lifetime Achievement Award by the Czech Ministry of Culture and recently by London Design Festival.

She has been honoured with Doctorates (eleven) and Professorships by many Universities.

Eva has a strong commitment to architectural education in all its aspects, giving frequent talks and workshops to students as well as acting External Examiner for a number of Universities. She participates frequently on architectural juries and lectures internationally on her work.

IDA SZYMANSKA

Ida arrived in London in 2004 after completing her Diploma at Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning in Wroclaw, Poland.

She joined Eva Jiricna Architects Ltd and became an integral part of the team working on a variety of projects both in UK and overseas.

Ida gained her professional qualification and has been SARP and ARB registered Architect since 2011.

She has extensive experience working on high profile projects across all stages of design, from feasibility to construction, within high-end residential, retail and cultural sectors, including complex high profile listed building refurbishments. 

Her recent significant contribution involved prestigious retail schemes in Knightsbridge and Mayfair, private residence in Belgravia and commissions for Victoria and Albert Museum and Somerset House.

She has keen eye for detail refinement and high quality aesthetics. She’s got ability to organise and optimise team’s workflow efficiently in support of client’s deadlines.

 Ida enjoys collaborating with consultants and contractors and aims to meet the client’s needs so as to achieve their dream project.

Magali Roux

Assistant Architect

Magali graduated from ENSA (Ecole National Superieure d’Architecture) in Marseille in 2015.

She’s started building her experience since joining Eva Jiricna Architects Ltd and continue to do it while working at Atelier A&D since 2017.

She is a keen observer and enjoys being part of the design process from conception to completion. She supports the design team with her 3D visuals skills while advancing her knowledge of design development, technical detailing and understanding of materials and finishes. 

Her recent involvement includes the Jewellery Gallery in the Victoria & Albert Museum and a number of high end flat refurbishments.

Magali is an integral part of team at Atelier A&D since the beginning and has been gaining valuable experience during the involvement in most of the practice’s projects.

Her enthusiastic personality makes her an invaluable member of the AAnD family.
